Before the Sport Arena Streetball concept, there was the idea of renovating sports courts, with the pilot project being the sports facility at the Politehnica University of Bucharest.
The Sport Arena Streetball event series increased the popularity of the courts at Politehnica, and the example of modernizing a sports facility or court using high-quality materials was adopted and replicated nationwide.
Sport Arena currently has over 600 sports infrastructure projects in its portfolio, ranging from simple courts in schools or parks to ultramodern multifunctional arenas.
However, the self-draining modular synthetic surface, which forms the playing court in 3×3 basketball and was first used in our pilot project at Politehnica in 2005, remains a symbol of the sport — which has since become part of the Olympic Games.
A modular synthetic surface court can be easily customized, has a long lifespan, and virtually no maintenance costs. In fact, some projects carried out by the Sport Arena team two decades ago are still in use today, and the playing surface has maintained its original qualities despite exposure to harsh weather conditions.
The surface provides protection and comfort for athletes and reduces the long-term risk of injuries that may occur from strain on the ankles, knees, and back during lateral (direction changes) and vertical (jumping) movements.
It also has minimal environmental impact, since no machinery or harmful substances (such as adhesives) are used during installation. The surface is easy to assemble and disassemble and can be relocated as needed. In addition to indoor and outdoor playing surfaces, Sport Arena can also supply and install other equipment for courts and sports halls, such as basketball hoops, football and handball goals, volleyball and tennis net systems, and more.
